MIT Solve 2027 Economic Prosperity Challenge: Is It the Right Fit?

Short answer: The 2027 Global Economic Prosperity Challenge is for tech solutions that expand quality work, affordable housing, or financial resilience. Prototype–Scale teams (India included) submit in English by 6 November 2026, 10:30 PM IST (12:00 PM EST). Official Become a Solver language: prior-year teams averaged about US$40k (not a guarantee) and access to a pool of +US$1M in prize funding at selection. Exact per-team Solver Award is not listed on the 2027 page checked 23 Oct 2026. Selection is not guaranteed.

Foreign grant: Indian NGOs normally need FCRA registration or prior permission (FCRA 2010) to receive these funds. General information only, not legal advice. See our FCRA registration and prior permission service.

Is this the right door?

Official question: How can we expand access to quality work, affordable housing, and financial resilience so that more people can build lasting prosperity?

Walk through this challenge if you already have a Prototype–Scale tech product or platform — for example job-matching with skilling evidence, housing access tools, or financial-resilience products for underserved households — and you can explain users, traction, and equity in English on Solve’s form.

Choose another route if you mainly need a classic Indian livelihood scheme reimbursement, a micro-credit corpus without a tech layer, or Concept-only ideation. Those may still be valuable work; they are simply a poor match for this Global Challenge track. Start with NGO funding sources and government schemes & grants for domestic options.

Practical answers

Documents to assemble: annotated Application Questions PDF answers; stage proof; team bios; optional uploads the form allows; FCRA readiness pack if an Indian org may receive USD.

After submit: PDF judging arc November 2026–March 2027; Solver Orientation referenced for April 2027; Become a Solver six-month support (~25 hours) for selected teams. None of that guarantees your selection.

Funding language from official Become a Solver (checked 23 Oct 2026): last year’s Solver teams received an average of about US$40k each following selection — that is an average, not a guarantee for any team. Selected teams also get access to a pool of +US$1M in prize funding at selection, plus further opportunities described on official Solve pages. The exact per-team Solver Award figure is not listed on the 2027 challenge pages checked on 23 Oct 2026; confirm on the official challenge URL and Become a Solver. Selection and funding are not guaranteed.

Common mistakes

Important: NGOGrant.in does not award or guarantee grants. Free information and official links are always free. Any fees are only for documentation / proposal preparation help — never for “sanctioning” a grant. Beware anyone who takes money to guarantee funding.

Sibling MIT Solve 2027 guides on NGOGrant (Climate, Health, Learning) once published, plus foreign-funder prep via FCRA assistance. For conservation/livelihood-adjacent foreign calls with different rules, see CLP Future Conservationist Awards 2027 and CFH Foundation.

For FCRA preparation, the FCRA Readiness Checklist & Document Pack helps you gather papers. Application narratives and budgets: NGO Project Proposal & Budget Templates. Broader document readiness: Complete NGO Documentation Toolkit. These help you prepare; they do not make you eligible or guarantee funding. No prices are listed here.
