Focus: development, testing and adoption of assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
Type and funding: Central Government research grant. Up to ₹15 crore per centre for a maximum of five years.
Deadline: 13 November 2026, 5:00 PM IST, under the revised call dated 14 October 2026. Call released 1 October; submissions opened 7 October.
Location, eligibility and source evidence
Location: India-wide, subject to institutional and research eligibility.
Who can apply: investigators at institutions eligible under ICMR extramural research guidelines. The call itself does not mention NGOs. A regular faculty member or scientist must lead the work. Clinical or rehabilitation expertise, engineering capability, relevant experience and user access are needed. At least one Co-PI must be from the lead investigator’s institution.
For research NGOs, check DSIR certification and NGO DARPAN details under the linked extramural guidelines. Do not assume an exemption intended for public or recognised academic institutions applies to your NGO.
This is not a grant for routine aid distribution. The programme should cover a coherent technology portfolio and use existing infrastructure; major new facilities are excluded. Submit a full proposal through e-PMS under NIRMAN-AT. No applicant account was accessed.

Who can apply: Research NGOs meeting DSIR and DARPAN requirements, with an eligible lead researcher and at least one Co-PI from the same institution. Globally novel biomedical ideas only.
Full eligibility and official sources

Issuer and geography: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India; India-wide.
Eligible research NGOs must meet DSIR and NGO DARPAN requirements. The call exempts specified UGC/AICTE/NMC-registered institutions from the DSIR certificate, not NGOs generally. An eligible lead researcher and at least one Co-PI from the PI’s institution are required.
The proposal must demonstrate global scientific novelty. Routine service delivery and incremental improvements do not satisfy the call’s purpose. Funding and later-stage support depend on ICMR assessment and deliverables.
The current ICMR call listing, official eight-page 2026 invitation and public e-PMS route were checked. No separate amendment to this call was linked in the reviewed listing. No applicant account was accessed. This is an existing programme’s current round, not a newly launched scheme.

Official sourceHow the directory works
Open now contains calls recorded as accepting applications, including rolling routes and open intakes without a published deadline. Every card shows its last successful source-check date; that date is not a promise of continuing intake.
Explore funders contains partnership enquiries, proposal routes, invitations and unconfirmed application routes. Archive contains historical closed calls and passed deadlines; a passed date does not prove an extension was refused.
Location and sector filters use positive eligibility information. A company’s past project in a state does not establish eligibility for new proposals. Where a programme names particular cities or districts, the full restrictions still apply.
Newly listed uses the date a record was added to this directory, where the publishing history establishes it. It does not use the source-check date or claim that applications just opened. Older records without a confirmed listing date appear after dated additions.
Deadlines follow the issuer’s published wording. If a notice gives only a date, confirm its closing time with the funder. Calls move to Archive after their recorded cutoff or deadline date has passed. Submit early where official sources give conflicting times. Rolling routes and intakes without a published cutoff still need periodic source checks.
Read the route-status guide, source-check method and free worksheet.
NGO grants in India: which funding route fits?
Searching for an NGO grant is different from finding a grant you can apply for. This directory includes dated grant calls, ongoing funder programmes, published proposal routes, enquiries and historical records. These routes are not all currently open grants. Start with the recorded status, then confirm the official instructions on the date you apply.
- Current dated or rolling grant calls: use Open now above, open the issuer’s current notice and check applicant type, geography, deadline, available amount and required application channel.
- Government grants for NGOs: match the Ministry, scheme and financial year before preparing documents. Start with the government-grant portal guide.
- Corporate CSR funding: check eligibility under the applicable CSR implementing-agency rule, then distinguish a live RFP from a corporate partnership enquiry. Read the CSR funding and readiness guide.
- Foundations and overseas grants: verify country, thematic and organisational eligibility. Indian applicants should assess FCRA requirements before accepting foreign contribution. Compare routes in NGO funding sources.
Before submitting: save the current funder notice, applicable guidelines, deadline and application reference. A past CSR project or a contact email is not proof that new proposals are being accepted. Use the grant application checklist after confirming the route.
