MIT Solve 2027 Global Health Challenge: Equity, Eligibility and How to Apply
Short answer: The 2027 Global Health Challenge asks how technology can make good health and quality care more equitable. Tech-based Prototype–Scale teams (India included) submit English solutions online by 6 November 2026, 10:30 PM IST (12:00 PM EST). Use only official Become a Solver amount language: prior-year teams averaged about US$40k (not a guarantee) and access to a pool of +US$1M at selection. Exact per-team Solver Award is not listed on the 2027 Health page checked 23 Oct 2026. No funding is guaranteed.
Foreign grant: Indian NGOs normally need FCRA registration or prior permission (FCRA 2010) to receive these funds. General information only, not legal advice. See our FCRA registration and prior permission service.
Read this before you quote any award figure
Secondary sites sometimes claim a fixed Solver Award or a Health-only minimum. On the pages we checked on 23 Oct 2026 — the live Health Challenge page and Become a Solver — those fixed figures are not stated. If your board memo or budget still carries a copied fixed award line from an aggregator, replace it with the official Become a Solver wording and link the challenge URL.
Funding language from official Become a Solver (checked 23 Oct 2026): last year’s Solver teams received an average of about US$40k each following selection — that is an average, not a guarantee for any team. Selected teams also get access to a pool of +US$1M in prize funding at selection, plus further opportunities described on official Solve pages. The exact per-team Solver Award figure is not listed on the 2027 challenge pages checked on 23 Oct 2026; confirm on the official challenge URL and Become a Solver. Selection and funding are not guaranteed.
Become a Solver also describes a six-month support programme (about 25 hours) and flagship events. The Application Questions PDF mentions Solver Orientation on 14–15 April 2027 with travel assistance noted there. Treat programme support as described for selected Solvers — not as a promise that you will be selected.
Does your solution answer the equity question?
Official question: How can we use technology to make good health and quality care more equitable for all?
Solve is looking for tech that narrows gaps in access, quality or outcomes — not a generic hospital construction ask. If your work is a Prototype–Scale digital triage tool, last-mile diagnostics, community-health workflow platform, or similar tech path with clear users, keep going. If the “tech” is only a spreadsheet and the real ask is unrestricted operating support, look at other routes on our funding sources page instead.

- Assuming orientation travel assistance equals selection.

Frequently asked questions
Should we trust fixed per-team award figures copied from aggregator sites?
No. Fixed per-team Solver Award figures and Health-only minimum claims circulating on secondary sites do not appear on the 2027 Global Health Challenge page or the Become a Solver FAQ checked on 23 Oct 2026. Official Become a Solver language: prior-year Solver teams averaged about US$40k following selection (average, not a guarantee), with access to a pool of +US$1M in prize funding at selection plus further opportunities on official pages. Confirm live official pages before you plan a budget.
What funding language should Indian health innovators quote?
Quote only Become a Solver: average about US$40k for last year’s Solver teams (not a per-team promise) and access to a pool of +US$1M in prize funding at selection. The exact per-team Solver Award figure is not listed on the 2027 Health Challenge page checked 23 Oct 2026. Selection and funding are not guaranteed.
Who can enter the 2027 Global Health Challenge from India?
Teams with tech-based health solutions at Prototype through Scale. English applications only, submitted on the official Health Challenge page. Worldwide except US-embargoed jurisdictions in the Application Questions PDF. India is not excluded. Past Solvers may apply only with a new solution.
When is the Health Challenge deadline?
6 November 2026, 12:00 PM EST (6 November 2026, 10:30 PM IST). Applications opened 22 September 2026, 9:00 AM EDT. Status checked 23 Oct 2026: Accepting Solutions. The PDF notes noon Eastern Time — not end of day.
Do Indian NGOs need FCRA if selected?
Solve pages checked on 23 Oct 2026 do not state FCRA. Because MIT Solve is a US-based programme that disburses USD, Indian recipients normally need FCRA registration or prior permission (FCRA 2010) to receive foreign contribution. General information only, not legal advice.
